H3 Biomedicine, seeks experienced and highly motivated medicinal chemist to join its research team located in Cambridge, MA. The ideal candidate is a medicinal chemist with a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry and cancer biology, driven to succeed within a hypothesis-driven, team-oriented and multi-disciplinary biotech environment. The individual will be expected to contribute to all stages of drug discovery programs, advancing small molecules from hit identification to development candidate selection.
Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign, plan and execute in a laboratory setting, the synthesis of high quality small molecules for biological screening Identify, develop and optimize new chemical methods/techniques to address specific analog synthesis challenges Devise and implement medicinal chemistry strategies addressing critical project issues. Responsible for communicating project updates to management team, internal colleagues and external collaborators Coordination of project activities with other disciplines including structural biology, target compound profiling, biology and pharmacology Assist in the preparation of patent documents and peer reviewed scientific publications Maintain high standards of laboratory safety, comply with all H3 safety requirements
QualificationsPh.D. in Organic Chemistry with at least 3 years’ experience, or MS in Organic Chemistry with at least 10 years’ experience working in industry as a medicinal chemist. Deep understanding of synthetic and medicinal chemistry, as evidenced by a record of achievement (publications, patents, etc.). Exposure to the fundamental concepts and tools of structure based drug design as applied to drug discovery programs Experience with natural product synthesis on scale Involvement with successful drug discovery projects, particularly those focused on kinases, nuclear hormone receptors or targeting reactive cysteine residues
